About Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy grew up in Florida’s panhandle, also known as the Redneck Riviera, which explains his passion for capturing gritty Americana. He’s as much a master at stealing spontaneous moments as he is at delivering visually stunning, high concept marketing projects. Sean has directed national commercials, shot countless music and film celebrities, and been visually behind award-winning ad campaigns for some of the biggest corporations on the planet. But there was a slice of time in Sean’s tenure that produced some of his most famous music photos.
The bands that blew up the music scene in the 90’s decimated the 80’s hairband culture and continued into the mid 2000’s. The incoming trend was that it was cool to be uncool. The underground became the mainstream, and the mainstream became the enemy. The most influential bands in that period represent one of the largest shifts in music culture in history… the reason? They didn’t give two fucks about any of that, and neither did Sean Murphy, giving him the edge needed to capture some of the most iconic rock shots of that decade.
