About Frank Frazetta
Frank Frazetta (1928-2010) was an American artist and one of the most renowned and well-known illustrators of the 20th century, creating paintings for magazines, books, album covers and movie posters. He is often referred to as the “Godfather of Fantasy Art,” setting a new standard for genre art around the world and influencing generations of painters.
The Destroyer
Painted in 1971, an early version of this work appeared on the cover of Conan the Buccaneer, depicting Conan using his bare hands to battle his enemies. When it was returned to Frazetta, he reworked it into its final version with Conan using an axe.
